Colossians is one of the deep theological books of the NT. Much of it centers on Jesus. The Apostle Paul, with the help of Timothy, wrote this to the church in Colossae. Colossae was located in what is now modern-day Turkey.
Most scholars agree Paul wrote this letter in AD 62, 30 years after Jesus rose from the dead. Paul was under house arrest in Rome for preaching the Gospel. This book was written, 2-5 years before his death.
Theme: The overall theme of Colossians is the supremacy of Jesus. He is Lord over everything in creation, and was responsible for securing salvation for all of those who believe in Him.
